For more than 40 years YWCA O‘ahu has celebrated women leaders who exemplify our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.
YWCA Oahu’s LeaderLuncheon event recognizes and celebrates women for their leadership across various fields. Those like Iris who are honored are sources of inspiration for women and men of all ages.
Iris Matsumoto serves as Executive Vice President, Human Resources for First Hawaiian Bank and is a member of the Bank’s Senior Management Committee.
In her current role, she is responsible for leading First Hawaiian Bank’s overall human resources strategy and preserving the bank’s unique culture of positive engagement with its more than 2,000 employees, overseeing talent acquisition, building leadership capability, organizational design and cultural development, employee engagement, succession management, compensation and benefits, HR operations and technology and employee relations.
Iris joined First Hawaiian Bank in 1998 as Vice President, Compensation and Benefits where she managed the Bank’s general and executive compensation and benefits strategies for employees located within the State of Hawaii, Continental U.S., Guam and Saipan.
Under her leadership, First Hawaiian Bank was named one of Hawaii Business magazine’s Best Places To Work employer for ten consecutive years. This distinction is based on employee ratings of their workplace culture, including the pride they take in their jobs, the camaraderie they experience with co-workers and the level of trust they feel toward their leaders.
Throughout her 40-year career, Iris has held senior leadership roles in the financial services, airline, retail, diversified agriculture industries for internationally based companies, working extensively across different cultures.
