For more than 40 years YWCA O‘ahu has celebrated women leaders who exemplify our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women.

YWCA Oahu’s LeaderLuncheon event recognizes and celebrates women for their leadership across various fields. Those like Tori who are honored are sources of inspiration for women and men of all ages.

Tori Abe Carapelho is President and Chief Executive Officer of Navian Hawaii, formerly Hospice Hawaii.

She oversees the operations of the non-profit organization including strategic planning, program development, quality improvement, staff relations, financial performance, and professional development. Most recently, she served as Chief Strategy Officer at Navian Hawaii, overseeing marketing and fundraising, admissions, leadership, special projects and strategy development. 

Prior to joining Navian Hawaii in 2008, Carapelho was Vice President of Marketing & Business Development for Hawaii Pacific Entertainment. She also previously held positions with Destination Marketing Hawaii, KHON-TV and Starr Seigle McCombs. 

Active in professional organizations, Carapelho serves as Vice President on the board of directors for Kokua Mau, and is a member of the Hospice Leadership Committee for the Healthcare Association of Hawaii, the Counsel of States for NHPCO, and the State Health Planning & Development Agency’s Honolulu Subarea Committee. She is also a 2018 Pacific Century Fellow.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Carapelho holds a Master’s degree in business administration from Hawaii Pacific University and a Bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
